Im using an old ATI Rage Pro 8mb AGP TVOUT in a box in the living so I can watch some of my captures on TV.

My problem is this, when using the s-video out with the s-video -> compsosite adapter, the picture is sharper, but Black and White, when just using the composite the colors are fine, but the picture isn't as sharp.

The adapter I have has 4 pins for s-video. The card has a s-video output connecter with 7-pins. I tried to use the adpater that came with my creative dxr3 mpeg card, since thats 7 pin, but all I get is a black screen.

I'd rather have the sharper picture, is there anyway I can achieve that ?

Also, I thought that s-video only is suppose to have 4-pins.

the 7-pin output supports both s-video and composite out thats why it has more pins.
if you use a 7-pin adapter you will get the comp signal directly from the card, if you only use a 4-pin adapter the comp signal is "generated" out of the s-video signal wich results in a quality loss.
maybe the dxr3 card has another pin setting (i dont know if there is a standard for the 7-pin outputs)

if you want to use s-video your tv must support it, otherwise the picture is b&w.
