Hi guys ..first of all thnx to everyone on the forums for helping many of us out...I have a little question.....its regarding FirstPlay in Maestro.......I decided to switch from scenarist to maestro because it is simply easier to be able to import chapter settings....

The maestro guide written by doom9 is excellent however ...if you just want to keep the original menus and extras then it gets a little bit confusing(confusing for me that is heheh)....After having read the maestro guide and skipping some part like making menus (i will use the original menus and extras without re-encoding them) ....i came to the point where i would compile my project.....so i did and when i played back the project it simply did not play anything.....going back to the guide i realised that i had to set the "First Play".....now my question is ..since i am not having any menus (or infact keeping the original)...should i set the first play of the project to Chapter1 or to Menu1!!!

I did experiment a little and if i set it to menu1 one i realised that playback with power dvd did not start again.....so i set it to chapter1, then it did......so does this mean that after i adjust the new ifo with the original ifo and setting the first play to chapter1 would it go to the Menu or still chapter1......i have a feeling that then the original menu will not start ..i hope that someone can answer my question!!

I'm not sure if I exactly follow you on which direction you're wanting to go. If you are reauthoring and only want the main movie, you would set the first PGC to Chapter 1 so the movie would begin playing. Menus, of course, would be irrelevant to the project.

If you are wanting to reauthor and then reintegrate your files into the original menu structure, you should follow the guide I wrote which can be found HERE. (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=27408)

I was exactly using your guide trilight.....how ever ..what i wasn't sure about was setting the fisrt play to menu or chpater1...so if i follow your guide which would be the first play then...since i could not find anything about First Play in your guide.....

You don't have to worry about setting any of the PGC or menu items. All you are worried about in Maestro is getting your movie correct. You will be using the command set in the original files so you don't have to set any of that structure in Maestro.

ahhh because when i did not set any first play and after compiling my work with maestro ...Power DVD did not play it....thats why i set a first play!!! I don't have cinemaster installed ..thats why my maestro does not give me any preview...so i guess that i should not set any first plays at all...and try to install cinemaster to preview it and thus see if it has compiled my work correctly.....

I had set a first play with my last compiled work..and after i altered the ifo file i realised that the chapter scene button were totally wrong ..could this be because i set the first play to chapter1....or is it because the ifoupdate went wrong???

PS: Thnx for helping me out...and by the way ...yours is a great guide....yours combined with doom9's ..is perfect!!!
