How do I get TRUE interlaced output of an interlaced source AVI?

When I try to display an interlaced source through my ATI AIW (live or captured) it appears that the two fields are combined into one frame and is then displayed as repeated fields on output (i.e. with artifacts). I would have thought that if I got the display geometry correct you would see no artifacts on an interlaced TV. Is this a hardware limitation? If I can't get true interlaced 'throughput' there is no reason for going any better than half res at 25fps is there? :rolleyes:

you can always go half-res at 50fps :-)

Interesting site. It does indicate, however, that I have to change my source rather than how it's displayed - I'll have to take a closer look at zoom player to se if it can do something like that on the fly for interlaced files. Still, how do I do this for a live source like my tuner card?

dont now if it works with ati cards but you can try:

- select the right resolution. 576 lines for PAL / 480 for NTSC (there are tools for radeon cards so you can create a custom resolution if you dont have a mode with 576 lines)
- enable overscan mode in the ati properties (if this option is not available you can activate it with the radeontweaker)

with such a config interlace playback works with most nvidia cards, maybe it works also with ati cards.

I think I'm going to have to give up. The tweaker doesn't work with the Rage 128 Pro and I've had all sorts of bad luck with Powerstrip. Guess it just isn't meant to be... :(

the rage 128 cards doesnt support custom resolutions or overscan mode, its only possible with radeon cards.
i have had a rage 128 card and also searched a long time for this...
