Hi Everyone !!
I have a small problem with subtitles.
I will try to explaind where the problems lies and I hope there is few people can help me.
First of all I don't have a problem to rip subtitles, I can rip regular or Permament subtitles.
My problem is : this movie I"m about to rip has stupid option on Dvd menu, you have a choice of subtitles eg. spanish, french and german which you can choose from the main menu before playing the movie and of course you will have your choosen subtiltes displey on the bottom of the screen. There is one more option where you have a choice of su
btitles only when the scens are in a different part of the world and they speak different language. eg the whole movie is in english and
one scene takes place in italy and there two italiens speaking their own language, at this moment I have subtitles I need on my screen.
I have rip movies before and normaly I would have Permanent subtitles on the screeen but for some reason this dvd is giving this new option i have no idea on how I go about it to rip subtitles, only when they speak a different language.
I hope I can get some help, and what ever I explained will be understood by you guys.
PLease help
Thank you

I believe u are talking about forced subtitles...like the alien language in Star Wars...whcih shows as subs even when no subs are activated.

Do a thread search on dealing with forced subs.

Hi Mosaic
I tell you, I did a search on forced subs and there is hardly anything on it.The only solution I found is to rip desire subtitels (the whole movie)and and then manualy remove unwanted subs, and you'll have only once you want. This method is time consuming aspecialy when the whole movie has scenes in different language.
Once more , doeas anybody have an idea on how to do it faster and easier ???
thank you

Unfortunately ....no one has posted a utility to rip subs based on the "FORCE SUb" flag.....

Can't be too hard since the DVD players read the flag and show the subs.

Any s'ware authors out there care to comment?

Would be GREAT if DVD2SVCD had an option for the forced subs insted of just permanent
:D

Well, you're right about it, it would be very nice to have this option in DVD2SVCD, maybe this is already into works for next DVD2SVCD version. Doing manualy "forced subs" it took me 2.5 hours on 85 minutes long movie. Unfotunatley you have to watch the movie and then delete it unwanted subs at the same time, so after you done you don't feel like watching this movie again for some time.
Mosaic, thank you for responding on the subject.
take care
