This should be a simple question.

I live in Region 1. I have a Region 3 DVD. I want to rip this DVD with everything intact to a Region 1, or Region Free DVD-R.

Is this easily done? I really don't want to re-author the entire DVD just for this processes.

I have tried reading throught doom9's IFOedits guide, but it seems like alot of work just for this task. Are there any utility that will just change it to Region 0/1?

If not, if someone will just give a quick how-to would be great. I have never ripped DVDs before, but I do learn quick (if given a slight push on the correct path. :)

Thanks.

It's easily done. Most (if not all) DVD ripper have an option to make your rip DVD region free.

Even though removind the region protection is simple, most DVD are over 4.37GB which DVD-R can hold. Therefore you are forced to re-author the DVD in order to fit on a DVD-R. It's too much trouble for simply removing the region protection.

Do you have a DVD-ROM? in that case you could easily make your dvd-rom region free by changing its firmware(www.firmware.fr.st). However from what i can tell you probably have a settop player. In that case removing the region protection is not that simple.

let us know what you have and its brand and model
