powerdvd xp 4 can play dvd compile from a dir, windvd (i think) can only play dvd compile from the root of ANY drive.

You need to open WinDVD manually, then press the file-select button (usually this icon looks like a page of writing). Then navigate to the directory where your Video_TS folder is, and add the files manually, by double clicking on each one in turn, so that it copies down to the bottom portion of the WinDVD file-select dialogue box. Then click ok, and WinDVD should now play the finished project correctly! (you don't need to place the Video_TS and Audio_TS folders on the root of a drive - WinDVD can handle them wherever they may be, thankfully, just like PowerDVD can.

compiling to the root and pointing the windvd 'dvd drive' to that disk seems a lot easier than what you just described ;)

Ahh, but if, like me, you compile different versions of a core project, and wish to compare quality of alternate encoded streams, or simply wish to compare different navigation structures for a core project, then you will compile different versions to different folders, and require WinDVD to access each of these folders as and when you wish to view them. In this instance, there is no simple direct-and-forget policy. Or perhaps I am the only one who does these little alternative 'roadtests' with my projects?! :eek: lol

Well if you are making a commercial gain from your investment then all well and good - the majority of us on Doom9 do this only for a hobby, so the licensing fees (which are aimed at buyers who will receive a commercial return on the fruits of their licensed software, and their labours), are untenable. I would be more than happy to turn my hobby into a commercial venture if only I had the qualifications and the capital to startup a business in this area. Sadly, I do not.
...Well, I know from my friends here on Doom9 (and Flexion, of old), that I am not alone! :rolleyes:

but you've got an A04 to play with now, no need for you to have a DVR-S201, but the DLT drive maybe ;)

:mad: <<==S_U_L_K_!!

lol - enuf of this nonsense.

BTW, the A04 IS fun, but I just wish, as I mentioned in another thread, that I could find a 3rd party burning prog that would both acknowledge the A04 (as opposed to just the A03) #AND# correctly accept Daikin and Spruce image files... well, I can DREAM, can't I..?
