How do I finalize CD after it's been burned?

I just bought a new DVD player... a JVC XV-S500BK. It plays VCD/SVCD's, but it won't play mine! Anyway, I read the manual and it says it won't play any CD's that haven't been finalized. I'm assuming that's the problem I'm having - I've been using Fireburner to burn all my discs and they play great on my Apex. So my question is - Is there any way I can finalize my stacks of svcd's? Will Nero finalize something already burned? I can probably do a cd copy and finalize, but I don't want to have to reburn all my discs. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

First off let me welcome you to the doom9 forum. Try reading Q61: in this thread http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=21859 This should explain the best way to burn your cue/bin files.


Ps. Don't use fireburner to burn images, as it can cause problems with some dvd players.

Thank you for the answer, Chainsaw. I realize you guys don't recommend using Fireburner, but unfortunately I've already made quite a few with it. I'm going to switch to Daemon Tools. Anyway, I was just wondering if there's a way I can put those discs I've already made back in my drive and finalize them. Thanks!

I've never tried it myself, but you could lets say use some software that takes a cd and makes it a cue/bin file. Then take the cue/bin file and burn it over again using the method in Q61:

I'm going to try that when my computer is done encoding in an hour. I'm just bummed all those discs I made won't play. That'll teach me to follow the advice on this forum!

I got the JVC DVD player to hook up to my brand new 65" TV I'm getting delivered tomorrow! Can't wait!

I changed the main subject to "Don't use Fireburner" because it definitely does something weird when it burns. I thought at one point that it didn't finalize the disc, but that doesn't seem to be the problem. I have no idea what it's doing.

Anyway, I put in my svcd and did a direct cd copy with Nero. The new disc plays just fine in my player. At least I can redo all my discs.

I just find it very odd that a cd won't work, but a copy of it will. I'm sure some of you techie guys could explain this (if you wanted). So I'd like to send a warning out to you Newbies out there that Fireburner shouldn't be used. It might play perfectly well on your current player, but if you get another they may not play at all.
