would ddr333 memory run on a kt255a board? overclockingwise, that would be a good choice i guess.

You could use it most likely but the chipset would never be able to properly use the extra speeds, its just not made to see or use it.

if the board supports a 1/5 multiplier for the PCI bus and your processor is unlocked, you can easily use 166FSB.

With a locked processor, you'll probably need watercooling, and without 1/5 multiplier, you need very forgiving (or very few) pci devices. But as ddr333 memory is not really more expensive than ddr266 memory, you can just use it with as much FSB as your other components like and you can probably set it to most aggressive timings with something like 150 FSB.

it definitely works.. you just won't get any performance benefit as the ram will run at 133x2mhz rather than 166x2mhz.. but if you're speculating on getting a kt333 or kt400 board later on (though the latter will also support ddr400) getting the ddr333 ram is not such a bad choice if the price is right.

of course i was speculating on increased stability when overclocking via fsb. afaik this kind of overclocking is more effective than a raise the core multipplier. For, fsb overclocking also increases the memory bandwidth, which in anyway is the narrowest bottleneck when it comes to video encoding. Especially if one uses filters like tempsoften2 etc.
i remember being very surprised when i realized that i could increase my fps rate by a 1/4 when overclocking my old athlon 700 to 850 via fsb (133 instead of 100) and combining it with some infineon ddram.

if i am right, my epox 8kha+ (kt266a) has a 1/5 pci multiplier. so that should work.

btw, which brand and sort of 333ddram would you recommend?
