View Full Version : No log file with DVD2AVI and GordianKnot

I've just started trying to use GordianKnot to encode divx avi's, but there is something definitely wrong with the encoding. I'm seeing files that come out actually larger than the original DVD rip! This is a bit annoying seeing as I've used XMPEG happily for the past year, but that hasn't worked since upgrading to WinXP.

Anyway, I think the problem is something to do with GKnot not being about to find a .log file created by DVD2AVI, but when I save a project I can't find this file anywhere. You can see a copy of the log file of when I've tried to encode a divx movie - any suggestions on how I can sort this out?

dvd2avi.log refers to the log file that is created by the first pass of divx5, not a log file of dvd2avi. Try playing the .avs file directly (double-click on it in explorer). If it doesn't play, and you can open the d2v in Gordian Knot, the problem probably lies in the avisynth script. Try to regenrate it with GK then.

I had similar errors when GK was installed on the D: drive.
Moved everything to C: and processing worked fine.

Mine is installed in D: drive, but everything works fine.
Sometimes re-installing GKnot will solve the problem.

I might give re-installing a try, but I tried opening up the .avs file in notepad to have a look at the settings and couldn't figure out if there was a problem there or not! :confused:

Anyway, after some registry entry deleting I've managed to get XMPEG working so I'm gonna stick with that again. That works a treat, but I'll leave GKnot on the computer as admittedly it does work as a good bitrate calculator lol
