View Full Version : DVD2SVCD locks up at the end of subtitle extraction

The subtitles are saved in the subs directory (I saw a bunch of .bmp files but no time file). It then displays an error msg says "Access violation" and does not go on. I suspect it only does this to this movie. I went ahead and unchecked ripping subtitle and the film was encoded fine.

My question is, how do I manually add the subtitles to the mpg created by cce and let DVD2SVCD create the disc image for me? Thanks in advance.

hello james,

I think it would be better to start over because if you want permanent subs then you have to encode the whole video again as they are hard-encoded into the video stream. If you want to have SVCD or CVD style subs you could make a copy of the conversion directory play around with the "Recover" feature of DVD2SCVD and then do the sibtutle extraction again after that copy them to the old conversion directory that you have saved and "Recover" from the "Muxing and cutting" step - but as you don't know if all subs were extracted before it crashed, it really is better to start over again.

Hope this helps,
Gerti

P.S. I once and then had a few access violations when experimenting with subs and I could never trace this "bug" down because after I retried the movie with the exact same settings all went fine usually. So if you get an access violation just do a restart and try again.

I don't want to start over after spending 20+ hours encoding. Also restart would not help becuase DVD2SVCD crashes if I choose to rip subtitle. Now that I got 2 mpg files for disc 1 and 2 of the movie. I would like to use submux or something like that to add subtitles to them.

So, my questions are:
(1) How do I use subrip to get the files that submux will need to create cvd subtitles in mpg file? Because subrip can save so many formats, I don't know which one is right.
(2) How do I split the saved subtitle file to 2? One for each disc.
(3) what is the command line syntax for submux? Is there difference for cvd and svcd?
(4) Is tscv a good tool to create the final image?

Thanks in advance.
