He has every right to be rude to users that doesn't read/follow the rules on this board. If you don't like it move to another board where they don't care. I leave this thread open in case you want to answer, but be warned, I have already striked you once, so behave in your reply.

Dear mrdutchie,
had a bad day? - Or what's your new problem?
"New" problem? - Yes, got me right, as all of your posts in these forums always were one of those "I've a problem with this ..., I'd like to have this feature ..., Same problem here ..., I can't get it to work, etc."
And what was your input to this community? - A little more than "nothing" friendly spoken. I only saw 2 posts from you that might count although they were a little vague and I wouldn't file them under "trying hard to help".
In fact, Chainsaw, never ever replied to one of your posts but that's not the point. I myself take the right to say: "A person like you, never putting any effort in really helping this community does not have the right to insult one of the moderators or members."
Chainsaw is one of the most helpful people in here and has put a lot of work into testing, giving results to us, maintaining the Q&A, helping people and he like any other moderator has the right to be some kind of rude to a person that just want's to get information and behaves like a parasite and is not willing to do some effort on his own - seems to be very common nowadays.
The whole moderation team on Doom9 has decided to make the users stick to the rules and you won't find any moderator in here that will tolerate a behaviour like this. You ask why? - Because we don't want this forum to be just another place for lazy people insulting each other and not willing to show some effort on their own - just wasting some bandwith of the net. This is what makes this board different from others that had to be closed in the past for these reasons.
Have you ever considered how boring it is to answer the same questions a thousand times - and it counts twice if you just spent a few hours to do some testing and writing an entry to the Q&A.
If you have a problem with it just follow dvd2svcd's advice and go to a place of that kind - I fully agree with him. Although I always try the gentle way I must admit it's really hard sometimes - but be assured we don't play god cop - bad cop games in here. Reading posts like yours reveals a really bad side in me - and I bet you won't be near me when it happens. I fully stand behind Chainsaw and Mark and any other moderator in here - perhaps it's only that I'm not a native English speaker that I have to choose my words and it sounds a bit more gentle sometimes.
I bet you never saw a "rude" post from a moderator in here when a person showed some effort, did some reading even if the question was asked before or the problem migth have been clear and obvious.
To sum it all up, any other answer from you that is not an apologize will let you make just a fine entry to my "Ignore List" - and I think it won't be just mine.
Yours,
Gerti

Yes it is true that you have to carefully think about posting a question. And I have to agree that sometimes the answer can be rude. At ISOnews.com they are just plain stupid so don’t compare this forum to ISOnews.com.
But if u don’t follow the rulez u disrespect the board admins and mods. Also the strict enforcement of rulez allows the user to make a decision to a)be a engaged member or b)leave.
That is in a nutshell the reason for the rulez. This board is interested in members who wanna contribute and be a asset to the community but we also wanna help newbies (which is what I still consider myself to be) as long as they have done their research.
Do a few searches, browse through the forums and learn b4 asking a question. Is that too much to ask?

While I do agree that one should exhaust other options before posting a question to the forum, some of you people (i.e. Chainsaw) need to chill the hell out. You act like if someone posts a question they've committed some cardinal sin or something. Jesus Christ man, it's not the end of the world. If the person is a newb, just instruct him on the correct way to go about solving his problem. Don't be a douchebag right off the bat. If you want to help, then help. If not, then go home and [Shut up chainsaw135].

Damn dude.. U just don't get it. Most ppl. are used to not reading the rulez, not reading the stickies and not reading the Q&A. Then ur asking for it. Why do u think u have to wait 3 days after u sign up before u can post?
So basically u either use put some effort into it or go somewhere else where ppl. don't mind ur ignorance.
When I first joined I thought, dude they are really serious about the rulez in here. But I did my homework and they guys who stick around is very qualified and can offer some good advice.
I'm happy I stayed around instead of running away and whining about it.

Stupid acting. You've been striked. Maybe you should read up on the rules before posting.

I agree pepsimaxx. Either play by the rules or go home. Hopefully mrdutchie and kronos68 start conforming or I'm sure we won't have to put up with them much longer.

I wonder if it's full moon or something... It's been a long time since I had to strike as many as I have today.
Well, I consider myself still as a mediocre user at best. But it is my firm believe that the boards policy of forcing people to help themselves is an excellent one. I myself had many (stupid?) questions but read the stickys before I posted my first question. It was about other CD sizes than default. I used the search function and voila, I found it. Since then, this very question has been asked many times, so obviously, people don't follow the rules.
I personally would never give the answer to anyone anymore, who asks that question. I wouldn't do him a favor by telling him. Telling him to stick to the rules and doing a search will help him far more!
If he does the search, he will likely be successful and try again before asking the next question. He will learn to master and research his problems. He will also learn what makes an article good, helpful, searchable etc. That way, he will eventually contribute his share.
I realise, that if you don't know the term of what you look for, it can be hard to find, but you can always try to find words that apply in the context. Just reading a few articles will give you a lot of inside to other problems, or at least some more terms to use in your next search.
All this will not happen, when you are too helpful or nice to people, who haven't tried themselves, you just waste your time. I can perfectly understand Chainsaw for telling people to move their lazy asses. If he wouldn't, someone else would probably explain again how to get 900MB onto a CD... Which isn't helping!
just my 2 cents

I just want to say a few things. For one i'm not going anywhere i love this place and also love helping users that like me didnt know much and wanted to learn. I myself did read read read not only on this site but on other sites until i posted. I remember it was a full month of reading before i first posted on doom9. The facts are i followed the rules then and i follow them now.
I always backed the doom9 team then and i back them now. We are a tightly knit team and i would not want it any other way. I'm always happy to see new users specially ones that need help because like me they have read, but still can't find the answer. The facts are all you users and you know who you are the ones i've helped the ones that i say "good job 2" you guys are the ones i think about when i stike someone. It would not be fair to you guys if i let people like "mrdutchie" and "krono68" get away with trying 2 make up there own rules. YOU 2 follow the rules or get out and trust me i'll be watching your posts very carfully now:sly:
ps mrdutchie you broke rule # 3 so strike 2 for u:sly:

jesus.. what's happening here today? All hell breaks loose if I don't show up for 24h.
@pepsimaxx, Mac Sidewinder, ux-3: thanks for your support.. it's good to know that we're not just being considered the bad guys with stupid rules.. we try really hard to make this a great place.. obviously we're all human and as much prone to error as everybody else but we're all trying really hard.
as this thread is not going anywhere I'm going to close it now.
