Software player for DV devices

This probably isn't really Video Capture as such, but not sure what other catergory it fits into.

Does anyone know of a software player to display full screen DV(iEEE) input on the PC?

Scenalyzer's player is horribly lagged. Premiere's preview window seems to run at full speed but cannot be maximized and is a horrible interface to just watch some TV.

If you have a DV codec installed, then you can even use WMP to play your DV file. Make sure you switched the Video Renderer to full screen display under File/Porperties/Advanced (in Windows Media Player). Otherwise you'll get a quarter sized picture by default.

But what I actually want to do is watch the stream from the DV device live, with no capturing.

I think graphedit can do that. Insert the dv video source and use the full screen video render.

I tried Graphedit.. couldn't get the fullscreen renderer to work properly.

Downloaded the trial version of Cyberlink PowerVCR which claims to be able to do it.. what a piece of shit that program is.

Any other software I can try??

I think the fullscreen render is only 256 color mode(sorry, but i could not test it cause I'm not at home). You have to use the standard video render and change the video window size. That's the same way most divx players use for fullscreen. I think bsplayer has it's one video render, the "*.dll" file in the main directory has the standart directshow filter interface. Perhaps you can use that.

When i use the normal Video Renderer i right click on it and it only gives me statistical information. There is nowhere to specify height width or fullscreen.

Any ideas?

You have to stretch the window like all other windows, click on one of the window corners and stretch it.
If you have already written some VB code you write a little tool, which do the same as you do with graphedit and will automatic stretch it to the desktop size.
When i come home i will make some test and perhaps I can help you writing this little program, but i cannot test the dv source, i have to test it with a avi video. But when this works it wouldn't be a big problem change it to dv source.

Hi Slothbag!
If I understand you right you just want to watch the not captured film with the resolution you want to capture e.g. 720 x 576.
I use "DVapp"! I downloaded it at: http://www.ush.de/amcap.htm , it's a simple programm... You probably know it... if not try it.
