SVCD : What aspect ratio to choose?

If I have a DVD which gives me a chice of aspect ratios between 1.85:1 and 1.33:1 and I wanna make an SVCD outta it to view on a standalone. Which should I choose to rip?

Are you saying that both the wide screen and full screen versions of the movie are on the DVD? If so, then without question choose the wide screen version (1.85:1)

You might want to check out Doom9's Guide Aspect Ratios Explained (http://www.doom9.org/aspectratios.htm) to help you understand why. The last section entitled Pan And Scan Transfers explains why you don't ever want the full screen version if you have a choice.
