Hi,
is there a way to encode the sound with dvd2svcd, that my pro logic 2 decoder or windvd 4 with pro logic 2 activated can decode it to 4 speakers (i got a 4 channel soundcard) with lfe to front and 2 different rear channels?

Can i convert a vob file without having an ifo file? Because i've got the ac3test.vob to test wether all channels work correct.

I love pro-logic 2! Just leave the DVD2SVCD settings to stereo. Your receiver or Powerdvdxp/windvd 4 will use the stereo feed to create the surround sound. I hope this helps. :)

I did it and test it with ac3test.vob but i'm still able to hear low left surround when right surround is playing and vice versa is that right?
Could somebody tell me the right Besweet Settings for AC3 5.1 converting to DPL2 .mp2?

so wait. You want to select stereo for surround sound and not multi-channel?

also, my audio file sounds quiet when played through winamp, is there a setting in DVD2SVCD to make it louder?

Hi there,

for a DPL2 downmix in BeSweet grab yourself a current version of BeSweet (1.4RC7 at the moment of writing). Then transcode the AC3 sound as follows:

besweet -core( -input file.ac3 -output file.mp2 ) -azid( -c normal -L -3db -g max -s surround2 ) [ -shibatch( --rate 44100 ) ] -mp2enc( -e -b 224[192] -s )

This should give you a better downmix for DPL2 decoder. Leave out the downsampling with 'shibatch...' and change the bitrate '-b...' according to your needs.

Cheers,

thanks for all the help. One total nooB question however.

besweet -core( -input file.ac3 -output file.mp2 ) -azid( -c normal -L -3db -g max -s surround2 ) [ -shibatch( --rate 44100 ) ] -mp2enc( -e -b 224[192] -s )

Where do I go to get these settings? (Like, where do I input them?)

That's a good question. I dunno if DVD2SVCD allows to set custom BeSweet switches. Please check the audio tab. If you can't set them there then I think you have to do that manually :(

Most of the switches are set by DVD2SVCD:

I think -azid( -c normal -L -3db ) is always selected. The two-pass gain is the '-g max'. The downsampling in the '-shibatch' is also selected by a checkbox (downsample to 44.1 kHz) and the last part '-mp2enc' is done via the bitrate selection for your audio stream.

So the question remaining is, can you select '-s surround2' somewhere? Maybe you should write to the author of DVD2SVCD and ask him to implement this feature (if it doesn't do that already, I really don't know).

I hope that helped.

I can only choose surround or stereo for the downmix. No surround 2. However, I think there may be a certain version of DVD2SVCD that lets you select the surround 2 format. The version I have is 1.9.0b3

I guess I need the "unrealeased" 1.1.0 build 1. Some people sound like they have it. any ideas where to get it? but from reading the info of PLII, it sounds like I can just use surround one, and be fine.

Hi austin316,

it's "hidden" inside this thread:

http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=28939&perpage=20&pagenumber=1

Make sure to set the "Stereo downmix type" to "Surround2" inside the "BeSweet (Azid) Advanced settings" you can reach by clicking the dropdown arrow in the "Audio" tab.

Hope this helps,
Gerti
