Best dual CPU board right now?

Hi all, I was wondering what is the hottest dual CPU mother board out right now. Either AMD or Intel.

To be honest, for the HOME user, dual mobos are leaning in favour of AMD at the present time. I suggest you check out the forums @:

There's a lot of very knowledgable SMP-ers there and they'll help you work things out. I nearly bought a Tyan and dual Athlon MPs, but went for a single P4b in the end. It's a matter of choice! :)

There's no such thing as 'the hottest', it all depends on what you are going to use it for, and what extra options you want it to have. But there are quite a lot of flavors out there, just follow the link Arky gave, they're the best.

Prosper : you are using 2 x XP1800's??? Why did you not go for the MP chips instead? I'm running the XP2100 in one machine and have been "toying" with a dual MP2000 board and chips. There is a noticeable difference with the XP chip and the MP chip in conversion time. Just wondering how your system is performing?

there is no performance difference between xp1800 and mp1800

I thougt the architecture of MP is designed for SMP therefore everyone should stick to MP instead of XP. It's true that you won't really recognize a performance difference but when it comes to the point of system (miss)behaviors... AMD announces that every XP should handle SMP (ok) but they only support MP... maybe just because of terms of money ;)

I believe the biggest issue re' XP vs. MP, was that AMD began to lock the later XP chips against SMP use :(

You can even fit any of the new Duron's in the Tyan Board. There are plenty of hacked Bios that will bypass the prevention and allow you to use the 2 Durons. They are less expensive and work well. At the same time you could still use any of the XP Processors. The Xp and MP chips are based off the same core and still work fine. It's just that the MP is "Certified" for MP use. The XP works just as well but for 100$ less and with the hack. It's all up to what you are willing to do. I personaly would pay the extra cash to know that I don't have to work with Hacked Bios. But's it's just a matter of choice.

IWill MPX2 is the one I'd want when they get the revised BIOS & revised final motherboard out...
