Hello!

I can't watch divx movies with ac3 audio stream using the analogic output... (the 3 jack plugs, not the spdif). I have no sound on the center speaker : I think the sound is downmixed to 2 chanels. The filters I use to decode the AC3 stream aren't maybe the right ones : In graphedit the stream goes through the intervideo audio decoder, which is not necessary in my case since I want to use the AC3 decoding capabilites of the sound card.

I use PowerDivX 3.12 to decode the movies, and I followed the guides in doom9.net to encode the movies.

Oh and I read somewhere in this forum that the solution is to enable the cmss (Creative Multi Speaker Surround) of the soundcard. Well it works but only because the card recreates the 5.1 channels so it a kind of upmix, and not really "pure" 5.1 sound!?

I've read the faq and I didn't find the answer to my question.

Someone help me pease...

In win98 I used the spdif output and the ac3 hardware decoding, but under win2k this doesn't work.
Use PowerDVD than it should work, but fullscreen playback with avi videos doesn't look very good.

Does anybody know something about the azid directshow project filter? Perhaps a open source ac3 directshow filter based on the ac3dec can help all people how have problems with the intervideo ac3 filter.

Check if you have the option "Ac-3 Decode" activated (i know it's probably a stupid thing to say, Duhh!, but we never know!) :-P

I couldn't get any 5.1 sound with the Version 3.12 of PowerDivx.
That's why I Switched Back to version 3.10 and it works fine.
Btw I'm Using the optical out of the audigy drive connected to a Sony Amplifier. I haven't tried playing the sound through the analog Channels.

Hope i have helped.

Well it seems to be a problem to use the decoding features of the SB audigy!! I'M using the analogic outputs : the 3 jack plugs.
I've checked AC3-decoding
The output I use in PowerDivx is Direct Show SB Audigy

My problem is that in graphedit, I can't join directly the AC3 source and the SB Audigy, it forces decoding the audio stream with the intervideo filter. When I change the decoding properties to Digital output instead of whatever 2 chanels, the sound is choppy. And I tried all the interleaving recommended (in Matter's ac3 faq) in Nandub when I dubbed the movie, it doesn't change a thing...

I'm now really desperate...

i'm going to give it a try and tell you what i found out.
you say you use nandub to join the audio with the video, right?
and the sound sucks??? was that it? try changing the output in Powerdivx to stereo (2 channels) and see if you still have the same prob.
Like i said before i'll let you know later...
C U later

you should configure powerdivx in the following way:
audio device: directsound: Sb audigy
Speaker mode: Spdif output
Compression mode: normal
Enable LFE should be marked

and that's it.
it worked for me.

I finally got it!!!

here's what I did :

- I downloaded the Nimo Codec Pack here (http://nimo.everwicked.com/) or you can also find it on www.divx-digest.com
- I installed the codec Pack, and the most important of all : the filters pack!!! The one I needed is the "Moonlight Odio Dekoda", it decodes AC3 streams (as the name indicates). There's some other stuff quite interesting like the bicubic resizer...

And I kept all the previous settings in PowerDivX, and the most important : I set the decoding properties of the filter. Click on the properties icon in PowerDivx, then Filters Properties. In the popup that appears, select "Moonlight Odio Dekoda" and then set 3 front, 2 rear 1 subwoofer (5.1). It can even Downmix to 4 speakers and of course 2 speakers

And that's it!!!

Thanx Everyone for your help
