I'm trying to encode an old serie that comes from a vhs master and it has a very badddddd quality.
For cleaning up the video and try to encode something good i've done:
- i've ivtc the video with decomb functions of avisinth
- i've filtered the video first with the 2d cleaner (strong options^_^) and after with the warp sharp(the best results around 15-20)
- i've putted a little of salt, pepper,my secret ingredient and wait until all it smells good:D .... but it doesn't smells good as i wanted:(
So the problem is:
the filter i've applied makes a very good job in cleaning the random but uniform noises that affects the video because the acquisition, transimission and generally because of a poor master quality.
The real problem are the black and white random and NON uniform spots (or ellipsoids) that characterised the very old production, to make me understand better think about the black spots that you see on the cinema's screen seeing a film that is in viewing from two weeks ago.
This kind of noises are not eliminated by the filter because (in my opinion) are too big and are assimilated to a particular of the video and not a noise: the result is that these noises are accentuated by the filtering process, and you have a worse watching output, even if the general quality of the image is better.
Have you experencied this problem? do you know a good method/filter that solves it?
