Hi Folks,

my new build 3 version supports now 5.1 sound. I also read that i have to use i-author and i did so.

but why opens dvd2svcd about 80 or 100 sessions from i-author???? one should be enough, isn't it? is this a bug or what??

thx for replies.

:scared:

Hi Frank_IX,

and welcome to the forum, btw. :)

Yes, it seems to be a bug and if you have a look at the latest "Readme.txt" (which is always a good idea to see which bug will be fixed in future versions) check this link please from the DVD2SVCD Homepage:

http://212.88.77.140/Readme.txt

...
- Bug fix: I-Author muxer would repeatedly start over and over again if any errors happen (like the infamous bitrate error)
...So you have to wait for the next release or somehow have to get around this "bitrate error" - but I don't know what kind of error this is as I don't use I-Author.

Hope this helps,
Gerti

Well, your answers have been very helpfull in the past. Same as this time.

But i can not imagine which error occured? Using the other build-in authoring software is not a problem. why is there one with i-author?

Me again,

hmm, I will not comment on how I think this piece of software called "I-Author" is concerning stability and usability - but IMHO ... no I will not comment that. ;)

You know, VCDXBuild just is a different program and it seems to be more stable at least on most systems so you get no errors with it - but you loose the ability to create MPEG Multichannel 5.1 SVCDs - but they're only supported by a very few standalones - so IMHO no big deal and saves you some time.

Unless you really need I-Author I would suggest to stick to the "Stereo" downmix which gives you just fine Dolby Pro Logic I/II compatible sound.

Hope this helps,
Gerti
