View Full Version : divX 5.02 encode LOG question please

I have a couple questions to ask about my log file that I encoded using the divX 5.02 pro codec. If you look at the log below on a couple/few areas it'll mention divX4, IE. // $job "DivX4 Single Pass".

I’m sure that I encoded my movie using the divX 5.02 pro codec, so I am wondering why it’s mentioning anything to do with divX4? Even when I open my encoded movie using N-Dub or V-Dub to check the file info, it’ll say Decompressor: divX 5.02 Pro codec, so that pretty much says it clearly that it used the divX 5.02 pro codec.

Secondly, is there any way I can read in my log if the divX 5.02 reached the quantizer of 2 for max quality? And if so where? Thank you all!

This log is from GKnot, not DivX5.02, just wanted to get this straight.

I have a couple questions to ask about my log file that I encoded using the divX 5.02 pro codec. If you look at the log below on a couple/few areas it'll mention divX4, IE. // $job "DivX4 Single Pass". It's just a comment, I don't know but do believe that The WEF just forgot/didn't care to change this since it doesn't matter. So, don't worry. :)

Secondly, is there any way I can read in my log if the divX 5.02 reached the quantizer of 2 for max quality? And if so where? No, not in this log but if your resulting .avi is undersized, then it's maxed out.

You can see in your movie's logfile (not GKnot's log) what quantizers it used, and thus whether or not it's maxed out.

Even when I open my encoded movie using N-Dub or V-Dub to check the file info, it’ll say Decompressor: divX 5.02 Pro codec, so that pretty much says it clearly that it used the divX 5.02 pro codec.
Actually that says nothing. You see, DivX5 overrides DivX4 after install, so DivX4 movies will be played with the DivX5 decoder. So VDub will show DivX5 as decompressor for both DivX4 and DivX5 movies.

Thanks Acaila & Swede

I just wanted to varify by showing my log that I was using divX 5.02 codec, since I'm new to using the version 5 it kinda through me off seeing the divX4 mentioned in the log along with the divX 5. I thought that it was just an overlook in the g-knot update that TheWEF didn't bother changing as it's no big deal.

So far I'm very impressed with the divX 5.02 pro codec in comparison to the version 4. Thanks again!
