I always encode my movies with permanent subs. I want to make a movie for a friend with 2 sub streams.
So, anybody knows what type of sub to choose on Subtitles tab, SVCD or CVD?
We both own a Pionner DVD (343 and 535)

I don't know, but I am confident you are able to encode a short chapter CBR and burn to CDRW to find out. Thats how I found out that my DVD-players need CVD subtitles. Hope that helps...

Most DVD players work with CVD subs only, I've heard that only Phillips players support SVCD subs, but I'm not sure if thats true or not.

I doubt these Pioneers support subs in SVCDs at all ... CVD stands for China Video Disc, btw.
Players like some Shinco SVCD players support both types of subs.
