Hi experts,
I have a question about capuring from a DC10 and writing to DVD
It's hard to get it right, i did a search, but could not find anything on this subject.
I want to capture and leave it interlaced and write it to DVD, but when i import the AVI into tmpenc, the it says it's 30fps ????
That's not standard PAL, which is 25/50 fps.
Anyone any clues ?
Thanks

Every version of TMPEG I've ever downloaded has a dodgy PAL DVD template. You need to make your own, with the frame rate set to 25fps. Also, make sure you do a short encode first to test the quality - getting the field order correct is important.

Thanks for your reply !
The problem i have is with dc10 -> DVD so it can be kept interlaced.
The problem is that i always get jerky playback on DVD, what fieldorder i choose.
I noticed that the capture resolution is hardware-set to 786x576 (PAL)
but for DVD(PAL) it has to be 720x576, so tmpenc will have to resize it, which probably is no good for interlace.
I also noticed that other capturecards do have a resolution of 720x576 (PAL), like the Studio-deluxe
So maybe the DC10 is not a good choice for analog -> DVD, i better get the other card
Thanks

The interlace would get very confused if you didn't have 576 lines. It should be a very simple matter to resize your footage from 768 pixels across to 720 and it won't have any impact at all on the interlacing.
I've no experience of the DC10, mind you, so I can't say for sure if it is the card or not...
Why not try a test - download virtual dub and use it to resize your footage down to 720x576 before you put it into TMPEG? And also in TMPEG, make sure that both the normal and advanced settings are set to interlace (not progressive) and that the source footage is set to 4:3, not 1:1.
That might help.

Thanx,
But i think i found the problem of the jerky playback !
The DC10 does not encode the framerate properly, so it will capture at 24.970 fps in stead of true 25 fps..
after using avifrate the problem was solved:
NO JERKY PLAYBACK ANYMORE !!
Very nice smooth DVD's !!!!
