Hi,
i wanted to convert the desperado dvd to a svcd directly, because i've got only 2.5 gb space free.
But the cce encoder 2.50 didnt start working and stopped with an error: cce encoding failed: AVIstreamRead()failed(0x80004005: unkown error.
Is there a way to make a svcd without ripping like Divx with Xmpeg?
When i ripped a 1min chapter convertation worked fine, but when i tried to play the bin with daemon tools in Windvd 4 i had to open the mpeg file. Normally windvd started playing when i inserted my svcd's.

Nope there is no way I know to do it without ripping the files first. Since at the time it is ripped it also unencrptys the files.
10GB's + free is really needed to do most movies of any length.

Doesn't DVDx allow ripping and encoding without having to rip to
harddrive first ?

Yes it does. But dvd2svcd doesn't and wont because of obvious reasons. What reasons I hear you say. I'll tell you why, I'd be blamed for each and every destroyed dvd-rom.

Hey guys , I was just trying to help some one out.
Maybe everyone doesn't have unlimmited resourses or
just wants to try ripping for the first time .
DVDx does have a save your drive feature where you
can set a temp file of any size and you should
definitly use it if your going to use DVDx.
Wasn't it just last week everyone was all pissed off
when you were asked to remove DVDx from your site ?
And didn't you put it back on ?
Anyway while I'm here ,I'd like to say Thanks! to
you and everyone in this little community who helped
me get proficiant at svcd creation .
BTW I use DVD2SVCD .

Sorry if I seem short tempered, but your former question sounded as "DVDx can do it, why can't dvd2svcd". I have probably misinterpreted it. Btw, I don't have anything to do with what Doom9 put's on and takes off his site (eg. it wasn't me that had any issues with DVDx).
