Alot of the dvds I rip have both a 2 channel ac3 track and a surround sound 6 channel track. Which should I choose to encode to mp3 for my DivX rips?
Thanks,

Well, it's quite simple, if you have a Dolby Surround Pro-Logic II system, you better transcode the 5.1 stream using tools like BeSweet.
If you don't have such a system, you better take the 2.0 stream.
Notice that in all cases, if your 5.1 AC3 has only 384kbps, you may be more interested in the 2.0 stream, since it has most of the time at least 192kbps and has full bandwidth (up to 20KHz). In fact, 384kbps 5.1 AC3-streams have frequencies up to 18KHz only.

i woudl alwaus go 5.1
on some dvd's the 2 channels is the old version wherea the 5.1 as a new digitally remastered version which contains i higher quality soond
besdies when going from 5.1 to 2 channesl you haave the abilility of encoding "dolby prologic" (4channels) and Dolby Prologic II "5.1) channels) into the stereo mp3

Hi,
Most DVD's come with 2 and a 6 channel ac3 stream.
When converting an ac3 to a CDDA disc, which stream should I use?
Or in other words, which will sound better ?
Thanks in advance

I have read the thread suggested but it doesn't really answer the question.(poorly worded post, my apologies)
I wish to put my 'Pink Floyd - The Wall' DVD soundtrack onto CDDA, The 5.1 stream is digitaly remastered the 2 channel stream isn't.
So which one do I choose ? I realise that it's(to a certain extent)a personal preference issue, but which one should produce better sound quality ?
Thanks again
Nick
