I have been trying to convert the Harry Potter movie to SVCD with 2 languages and 1 set of subtitles. Its a long movie so I knew my computer would run for quite a while but it looked like it would take much longer than I had expected
The problem was extracting the subtitles: The first 647 screens were extracted within 75 but then my computer started slowing down; subtitles #648 was extracted 70 after #647. #649 was extracted 10 later and #651 was extracted 66 after number 650 (checked file creation time).
The next 85 subtitle screens took more than 11 hours, the indicator bar showed that ~70% had been done so I broke off this session because I calculated that with an average of 10 subtitle screens per hour, it would take at least another 30 hours to complete.
My question is whether anyone has an explanation for this slow extraction of subtitles.
My computer is an 800 MHz Tunderbird with 192Mb RAM, 40 Gb HD and no other tasks running during the conversion. Previous subtitle extraction have been done without problems.
