I cannot play an avi file(encode with xvid) with the player Bsplayer
but it run with WMP6.4

What is the problem
Does WMP is best to play Xvid?

Last question, is it better to use ffdshow instead of xvid decoder or div5 decoder

I only use Bsplayer and never had a problem with it. But its setup has a lot of options, possibly the problem lies in there

Don't know because I haven't tested it, yet. :)

I use BSPlayer, and most of my files work fine (except for some WMV files which show a grey screen).

I can't notice any difference between ffdshow and XviD filter at default settings.

try playing around with the overlay options... just a few days ago i had a few problems with one movie and ended up findoing it was an overlay problem/incompatibility...

Well hope this helps :)

I had the same problem, resolved switching to mode 2 in options->preferences->video->use overlay

ffdshow rocks!
on my duron 900 MHz XviD eats ~70% cpu, ffdshow only 50%
it has native postprocessing and a lot of options/functions (some still work in progress)
I only had a problem with messed colours but I resolved checking
the 'decode using Xvid' option in codecs tab
