Hello, having trouble finding help with this. I am creating a CVD and since I cannot use VCDXbuild (it creates invalid cue sheets) I wanted to use I-Author but it fail's saying that the bitrate of 2700 is to high. I used a 224 audio bitrate, did I need to use a 128 bitrate to keep it below 2700 or is there a workaround?

Strange it says above 2700. Should normally say above 2748, which is the maximum SVCD rate in the standard. You probably use default DVD2SVCD max video bitrate of 2530, which together with audio 224 makes 2754 > 2748. Reduce max video bitrate to 2500 and it should work. Notice that both TMPGEnc and CCE don't respect accurately the max bitrate, especially with 1 pass, so keep some margin versus max. This margin is anyhow needed if you use non-permanent subtitles (extra bitstream not taken into account in video or audio bitstream).

Ok, I'll try it on my next encode. Is there any reason why VCDXbuild failed? Should VCDXbuild have been able to create these images properly with a CVD encode? I guess I could redo the audio part at 128br and remux with the new mp2. Is I-Author really only needed when using subtitles?

Is there any reason why VCDXbuild failed? Not that I know, even with too high bitrates.Should VCDXbuild have been able to create these images properly with a CVD encode?Definitely yes (I just tried with slightly lower bitrate).I guess I could redo the audio part at 128br and remux with the new mp2.Yes, will also work.Is I-Author really only needed when using subtitles? Also for 5.1 audio and for me to avoid blocky video at low bitrate (with Pioneer DV-444). Only muxer part is needed (I use VCDXBuild to have direct access to chapters).

Ok, one last thing, how does I-Author help with blocky video?

Don't know why (apparently nobody knows), but it solves the problem on Pioneer DV-444 (and probably on all Pioneer models). If interested, search topic "I-Author", user name "avdmb" from May.
