Problem Multiplexing in I-Author

When DVD2SVCD starts to multiplex with I-Author, the application (Enreach MPEGII Mux) Closes. And all the SVCD creation stops. Doing that manually I have the same problem, it just closes. When using the TitlePicture.mpv for Video it works fine and creates the MPS file. But it closes with the MPV file that DVD2SVCD creates.

Any idea please reply.

We will do our very best to try to help you but we can't do that if you don't give some detailed information concerning your problem(s). Otherwise it's like "reading tea leaves" or like "consulting the good old crystal ball". It leads to nothing but a couple of posts like: "What OS are you using?", "How are your system specs?" and so further and so on. This will only fill up the forum with unnecessary posts we all have to read and read and read and ... (to be continued endlessly).

This can be avoided by supplying these informations right with your first post. The most important files and informations to post are the following (try to decide what applies to your problem(s)):

- tell us something about your system (OS, CPU, memory, harddrive, ...)
- let us know something about the DVD you try to convert (PAL/NTSC, aspect ratio, region code, ...)
- paste the "dvd2svcd_log.txt" file to your post because it contains nearly all necessary data to see what went wrong or at least it will give us a hint on how to track down the problem(s).
- also paste the "Avisynth_Script_file.avs" to your post (open with notepad) if something is wrong with the "MPG" files
- and finally post your dvd2svcd.ini file (located in the same folder as dvd2svcd.exe)

And last but not least, be gentle and you will treated gentle - so you will sure have a nice time with us in here.

Thanks you for your soon reply. I will be more clear about my problem. I downloaded the latest version of DVD2SVCD and tried using I-Author. When it got to the Multiplexing part DVD2SVCD log showed:

There it opened I-Athour (Mux) and it closed without doing the process. Nothing happened then, the log stops there.

I guess the problem is of I-Author and maybe related to the video file. This because I manually tried doing the same thing and received the same error but if using instead the video file that is created for the title picture it worked fine.

I did this with different DVDs and received the same thing. I used NTSC DVDs, Widescreen, Region 1. All this was done in a 733 Mhz Duron, 196MB Ram, 20GB. Running Windows XP Pro.

I don't have the log neither the Avisynth_Script_file.avs but everything seems correct until that point (I think I can tell because I have used DVD2SVCD for several movies and received no problem). When using DVD2SVCD I always used VCDXBuild, this time I tried I-Author because I wanted 5.1 Audio. Can the problem be of my I-Author software? I've never use it on Win XP.

I have never used 5.1 audio, so maybe your problem is linked to that, but I don't think so. At 1st sight, I don't see a killing issue in the data you provided. A few thoughts that can maybe help :
1) you are using the final 1.0.9B3 version ? (some earlier versions had issues with audio conversion step).
2) you are using 1 pass VBR, which is known to give bad results for file size (and probably related to unpredictable peak bitrate). I know multipass VBR is time consuming (I have a PIII-450 !), but I recommend you to stick to that (preferably 4 passes, at least 2).
3) you are encoding a small clip. Strange enough, while initial .ac3 audio file is around 4 MB, the conversion step takes about 31 MB disk space. This is strange, so check size of you audio files to see if nothing went wrong.

1) I am using the latest version of DVD2SVCD, anyway with earlier version I have no problem and using I-Author I have the same problem

2) I just use 1 pass when I do tests (like this one looking if 5.1 works), but normally I use 4. Anyway when I tried doing the multiplexing manually I used several files, from this one to another which I enconded in 4. The only one that worked what the title picture.

3) I tried multiplexing without audio and with normal audio and I always receive the same problem, mux closes.

Do you have any idea about I-Author Deluxe 1.0 for Win XP, I suppose the problem could be I-Author and not DVD2SVCD but I find quite strange that it multiplex the TitlePicture but not the video.

I have no problem using I-Author 1.0 on my Win XP pro system. If you also have the problem using I-Author manually, then it is indeed not a DVD2SVCD issue. What audio bitrate did you use ?

I used 44.1 and 128Kb
