Long time I used GKnot for encoding into DivX3 AVIs.
It was nice, that after first pass I can estimate
compressibility of all movie.
How this can be done for DivX5 encoding ?
Compressibility test estimates maximum 15% of movie.
When I try to load .log file created after DivX first
pass - it doesn't work.

And I have another question about compressibility check:
How can I do compressibility check with manually edited avs file ?
Is this possible ?

And another question, may be this is not right place for it.
But I am not sure.
DivX5 at second pass created file analyse.log in which
I can look see average quantizer for movie.
But location of this file is unpredictable. It can be in
movie folder or in another folder.
Is this controlled ny GKnot ?

You can use my DivX 5 Enc for this operations:

PS: you can do a 100% compressibility test... but you can't reuse this log file for making a second pass

for the location of the analyse log:

there's a tool called "vdubconf" which allows you to set all divx5 codec parameters manually after hitting the "encode" button in Gknot. With the help of this, you can set the output of the analyse file to where you want (and you can also use psychovis. and pre-processing settings with Gknot).

Thank you, jonny and theReal

DivX 5 Enc is good, unfortunately it is very large.
What development tool used for it ?
Is there any algorithm or description of DivX log file ?

vdubconf doesn't work for me at all -
it says
"Using ...avs.bkp as backup file for DivX ...!"
and then
"Launching VirtualDub ..."
And so - I can do nothing.
But it have sources to look.

DivX 5 Enc = Perl + Tk
You need 1024x768 to run it ATM, sorry :)
The only thing i know about the DivX log file: the sum of the total column give the final file size in bits.

Cheers
