Problems with capturing VHS to DivX

hi,

I've a video-card with TV IN & TV Out!
So, I bought a scart wire to S-VHS and connect my video-recorder with my PC!

Now, I've started VDub, but there was no picture...

what's wrong?

but now the new problem:

My video-tape is playing and I can see the picture, but that picture is full with grey lines and the whole picture is strange!
I just can see that something is moving, but I cannot see what.

So, what's wrong now?

If your vcr is not an S-VHS vcr, it probably doesn't support S-Video out.
Therefore, there are no pins on the SCART connector for the color information and your picture will be b/w and bad looking.

In this case, you'll need a scart to video-cinch cable and a video-cinch to S-Video adapter to connect everything correctly.

You don't need a composite to S-Video adapter if you already have a compsite-in in your video card. Just connect directly from scart to composite.

Connections are all O.K. , work perfectly!

But in VDub is just get a video which is full with grey lines and u just can see shadows of the ppl... that's my problem!

If you're connection on S-Video, switch to composite as said (the yellow connector).
This should resolve your problem. If not, I don't know further

that wire is SCART -> S-VHS (no chinch, just 2 for the audio)

I guess the tv-in on your card only is S-Video? No composite? It's the same with my WinTV, but it had an adapter with it so I can also connect composite (cinch) cables to the card.

You say the cable is SCART->S-Video. That's good, but you can't use it unless you have a real S-Video capable device with the correct SCART pins.
I have a cable like that and only tried to use it once until I found out it was useless for me...

Yes, there is also composite, but my cable doesnt support this!
So, do u mean, I need a cable with composite support?

I don't know if there are any VHS vcrs with S-Video out, but I have never seen one. DV camcorders usually have S-Video out, so do S-VHS vcrs.

I'd say you need a new cable, or an adaptor from S-Video to composite (can't be too expensive, I think)
