Hello all,
I have a VCD (pal), it has a really really low bitrate:( -The bitrate killed the music videos on the VCD.Well, I'm working in NTSC (USA) and I wanted to rip the VCD and encode it using higher bit rates, so the quality will look far superior than the original. Is this possible? I will then Author it in a DVD (for personal use).

Note: I can perfectly play the VCD on my computer using Windows Media Player (opening the .dat files or sometin in the mpegav folder)
Thanks!:)

Hi Deepa DvD,

I'm sorry to tell you that it is "impossible" to take that VCD of yours and "raise the bitrate" to make it better. The reason is compression formats "get rid of information" and once it is gone it cannot come back.

The only thing you could do is filter it and encode it again at an acceptable bitrate, but this will 9.999 times out of 10 make the video/audio worse.

Take Care,

Dail
