Cams
23rd June 2002, 14:22
I have trawled throught the forum and tried all the options including to disc images. using vcdeasy to create the disc but still have an a/v sync problem if a filme needs more than one disc.
Disc 2 and 3 are always OK anybody solved this yet?

Hi Cams,
are you using a title picture? Some players are known having issues when using a title picture.
Hope that helps,

Chainsaw:
I have already post my log if you don't mind taking a look at it, my problem is similar to Cams but my problem is on disc #3. Disc #1 and #2 are fine, perfect.Using DVD2SVCD bunddle 1.9
this is my log for yesterday, note that I used different settings and 4 different DVD's and all got me the same result, #3 is out of sync.

I got the same problem, the 2nd disk after the 15-20 is running out of sync. I"ve already posted in another thread.
No title pics, no zero length chapters, and i also tried setting the movie offset to 5 with no luck.

I was looking at your log and I notice the following:
Saving bbMPEG settings: C:\Program Files\DVD2SVCD\bbMPEG\default.ini
Offset in Seconds: 2
Executing bbMPEG.
Variable Settings:
Movie offset: 2 seconds
Cut point: 891 mb
I'm not expert on this but...
Why don't you try to set the offset to "0".
My problem is only on cd #3, and Im using the offset "0" on my settings and also I'm wondering if the problem will be with using 2 hard drives for this procces?
This just came to my mind and I don't thik it will make a difference but ask dosen't hurt :)

@VILLA21 and ramutan:
I just remembered a sync problem Mark once had and it disappeared after he unchecked the "Add SVCD scan offsets" in bbMPEG's "Advanced options" - so you could try to do this. So hit "Recover", go to "bbMPEG" tab and uncheck this setting, go to "Misc." tab and continue from "Muxing and Cutting".
Also, you can try to use the defalt SVCD mux rate of "6972" instead of "0" the automatically calculated one.
Hope this helps,
Gerti

"Why don't you try to set the offset to "0" "...
ramutan:
I always use the defaults settings, so, i left movie offset to 2.
I encoded a lot of movies, the problem i mentioned is noticed only in 2 or 3 movies. These movies are more than 125 min.
I remember a thread (Gerti or Mozart?) talking about DVD playres handling CD-Rs that have more 1 hour movie (like mine:1CD=1h08m, 2CD=1h07m). I re-encoded the movie for 3 CD-Rs, around 45min on each CD and problem still exists, after a few min playing the sync was lost.
I"ll try Gerti"s recomendation and post the results...

I give up searching for the solution of the problem! 2 days ago i bought a little old gem of Pionner DV-343 and plays all the movies i"ve encoded fine(No sync problms).
So, for sure it"s DVD player issue...
Simple and clear...
Thanks all!

I'm going to try that and check the SVCD on my PC and see what I got, but I remember that It was out sync too.
I hope is DVD problem, I got that sucker 10 day ago; still time to get a new Pioneer.
Ill post my results.
Cause I'm about to give out too.....

I try the SVCD's that I created and they still out sync on my PC, so in my case I'm still need to find the problem.
Does anybody else have the same problem???
Any suggestions?

Try Gerti"s recomendation, uncheck the "Add SVCD scan offsets" in bbmpeg advanced options and start the recovery from "muxing and cutting" as in the above post...

Hi there,
I have exactly the same problem as cams. I encoded the movie "Charlies Angels" and went for 3 CD's. CD number 2 and 3 are perfectly sync - only CD 1 is completly out of sync :(
I am sure it has to be some sort of bbmpeg problem...
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks.

Thats the dirst thing I checked, and is uncheck.
And yes I started the procces again from "muxing and cutting" with the "Add SVCD scan offsets" off.
UPDATE:
Now I got a problem with corrupted images, if i try to burn them with CDRWin it says "error invalid cue sheet command at line 11, index times are not in ascending mode"
I get this message with image #3 and #2 only.
Also used FIRE Burner to burn the images, but creates a coaster.
SO now I don't have a clue if the sound is out sync, can't look at the final video. Goin to try to istall the daemon tools.

It is most likely because your movie offset in bbMPEG tab is 0. Read what I have written between the ( ) :
( > 0 is recommended. It can solve desync on dvd players)
This is on CD1 this affects only.

I try that before too with the setting on 0 and 2.
0 (>0 is recommended. It can solve desync on dvd players)
2 (>0 is recommended. It can solve desync on dvd players)
and cd overlap seconds to 0 and 2 also.
but still same result :(

@ramutan, If you already have sync issues with your software DVD player, no way it will recover on your standalone DVD player. On top, you are now facing issues with corrupted images. I would be you, I would restart everything from scratch, taking into account advises from gerti67 and dvd2svcd. There used to be a sticky post from DDogg fullproof way to burn an SVCD using Daemon Tools, summarized in http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=21859, Q61, that I advised you to use. These actions will at least insure a clean start situation in case you still face issues afterwards.

@ramutan:
In this thread you mentioned that all runs fine on Win98SE:
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=27846
So I think it has to do with your XP installation somehow that messes things up - perhaps driver issues or ASPI issues - what kind of ASPI do you use with XP, do you use your hardrives on a onboard RAID controller?
Greetings,
Gerti

I'm using the ASPI driver version 4.71 by adaptec, and my hard drives are IDE. About my XP istallation: remember that I just reformat my hard drive, this was suppost to fix any drivers related problem, and also remember that DVD2SVCD worked before without a problem. The problems began to show after the demo run out and version 2.5 was istalled, why it DVD2SVCD work on my 98 SE box? don't have a clue, the problem is that that box is only mine for one more week; after that I'm dead :(
Im had try almost all that is been posted, the only thing left is to kick my PC trhu the window, but I'm still far from that for the moment.
Any way thanks to all the people that repply with sugestions and this forum rules!!

Sorry to say,
but I think I'm at the end of my rope now. Can't imagine what is causing this. Perhaps try to get the CCE demo from the Doom9 website and try an encode with it - just to sort out TMPGEnc related issues.
Just a guess,

Ill try that as a last resource and I thibk this my last chance to figure out if the problem is there.
Going to get the demo today and give it a shot.
Ill post the results.
