Tmpg read errors and lots ov em

Well I'm not a happy chappy. I've just gone out and biult a stonker of a new system. Looking forward to much decreased encoding times. Much to my dismay, nay depression i seem to get one read or write error after another with tmpeg v2.53.
I'm running an Athlon xp 2100, On a abit 266 ddr 133 raid mother board with 768ddr memery. the os is windows xp pro.
Would one of you very kind and knowledgable types please help before i have a nervous breakdown and kick the shit out of this bloddy expensive piece of crap.

One thought I have had is that the system is just to fast for the encoder. Other suggestions for encoding would also be welcome.

come on Bubs, we can hardly be expected to help you unless you actually tell us what the error messages SAY, can we? :confused:

I'm sure if you post the exact error messages, we will be able to make some useful suggestions.

ALSO, please tell us what (if anything) you are frameserving with, what codec your source material uses... etc.

Oh, and there's not a chance in hell that your system is too fast for TMPGEnc - that's virtually impossible! :D

Hi me again,
Well i'll try to answer as many of your questions as best i can. As far as frame serving goes i dont have a clue what you meen. The same goes for what codecs are being used. Plug-ins listed below:
AVI2(open DML) file reader
BMP/PPM/TGA/JPG file reader
Wave file reader
DVD2AVI Project file reader 1.74
Quick time movie reader
TMPGEnc project file reader 2.53
The file cannot be loaded
Directshow multimedia file reader
AVI VFW compatibility reader

As for the shown errors. They do tend to be along these lines:
Read error occured at address 0049FB15 of module 'TMPGEnc.exe' with 00099C2C.

The write errors are much the same as above.

does anyone know of a way to fix this becuase i get it a lot and it's only happenned after i installed windows XP service pack 1.

i'm running an AMD 800 mhz 384mb SDRam .

What is your source file? Are you loading an avi or a dvd2avi project file? Have you tries other source files?

I would start by installing a newer version of tmpgenc (ver 2.510) and dvd2avi (ver 1.76). Let me know, I'll try to help.

i was trying to load an avi. about the tmpeg version, mine says 2.58, i'm not sure where i got it from.

but i found a solution.

althgouh this works, on my pc it's not permanent. whenever i open tmpeg it seems to "reset". ie it will show the wizard every time even thoguh i tell it not to, and it will show tips even though i tell it not to. howw do i fix that? it's not on a removable hard drive and the harddrive isn't read only.

oh i see, so 2.510 is better than 2.58. that's a bit stupid and doesn't work mathematically, but i see where it comes from

two.five ten is better than two.five eight. so its the last digits that count, not the order numerically.
