I need to find a utility that will simply cut and join MPEG-1 files, without recoding them. TMPGEnc, BBMPEG and MyFlix all allow me to edit MPEG files, but only by decoding and reencoding them. This recoding process takes a hell of a long time, and if I'm careful not to cut through the middle of a GOP, it shouldn't be necessary.

What about Tmpeg - File - MPEG Tools - Merge & Cut

To edit one big file more frequently simply load the same file several times ...

That looks like it should work, but for some reason when it remultiplexes the video and audio signals, they end up out of synch.

Is there anything I can do about that?

1) MyFlix doesn't reencode the whole clip but only the GOP at which you cut.
2) If the file is async after remuxing then there was a built-in delay between video an audio in your source file. Try PVAstrumento (www.offeryn.de) , maybe this can eliminate the original offset.
