I have a 120 minute video capture that I'm converting over to a DVD compliant MPEG file using TMPG. The first wizard screen of TMPG indicates that I should use a constant video bit rate of 3000 kpbs to achieve 120 minutes per 4.7gig DVD.
A few screens later (the one with the blue file size bar at the bottom), it indicates that this 120 minute video at the suggested 3000 kbps only takes up about 70% of the DVD disc's capacity.
If there is still 30% capacity remaining, why didn't TMPG suggest a higher video bit rate? I understand there is some overhead required for the chapter selection menus and such when authoring a DVD but does that account for 30% of the the disc?
