View Full Version : Sound cuts out half way...

r3n
20th June 2002, 21:23
i ripped "the mummy returns" (pal) - on the the second cd, the sound just cuts out...

i listened to the mp2 recording in the folder on my hdd and, yes, it cuts out before the movie has finished  - what the hell is going on i say?!

so, just to be sure, i rip and convert the dvd again... but, instead of cutting out at the same time it cuts out even erlier, lol, u can imagine how irritating this is because i'd hate to rip it for the 3rd time and have even less sound.

before anyone suggests it, i have about 25 gigs of free space on that hdd - so i doubt space is a problem, i'm thinking something more to do with my config... n e way, can any body help me!?

done :) so can any1 help - incase no1 has spotted it theres 3 repetitions "E7: CRC error" in the besweet log - what are they?

One thing that you can try is to see if the .vob files that you ripped from the DVD have the complete sound. Just play them in a software DVD and see what happens. Another thing you can try to do is listen to this file: Encoded_audio_1.mp2 and see if that cuts out at the same time as the movie.

[00:49:45.600] E7: CRC error <-- Does the sound stop at this time?
[01:16:40.224] E7: CRC error
[01:19:49.248] E7: CRC error

If thats the case then try the recover feature and encode the audio again and see if the same thing happens. You dont have to encode the whole movie again just do the audio part. If that doest work then you can try to rip the movie with vstrip and see if that fixes the problem.

the audio track is ~80mins, what's the playbacking length of the video ?

r3n
22nd June 2002, 15:11
Jason28:
the vobs are fine (played with PowerDVD) and the sound goes on right to the end... but the audio track made with besweet is cut short

DSPguru:
ya, the mp2 is like ~90 mins... the movie however is ~120, since its not the vobs, its gotta be the encoder right?

thanks for replying guys :)

Mux your extracted audio ac3 file with the pulldown mpv file to check if sound plays to the end with powerDVD. If not, the extraction failed.
