corona from micro$oft...lol

I just had a look to the 300kps video of corona demo on the M$ website and had a big fat laughtime when the honey-voice told (with videos "evidence") that corona format is able to resume streaming playback even if the lan or modem cable is accidentally unpluged!!!!


Too, the voice claims that corona videos avoids buffering and rebuffering...it's not true, even the demo was buffering every minute.

OK it was a 300k stream in a 320*240 15fps colour video but i do nearly the same everyday and it's not that bad even with free encoding softs an servers..

What you watched is wmv7...it should be logical that it isn't wmv9 alias corona, since this codec isn't released yet. But I better shut up now, since doom last time thought I am a M$ lobbist when I talked last time about corona...he even closed my thread...ok I am quiet.

I think Corona could surprise a great many people. It isn't necessarily hard to perform better than current MPEG-4 codecs, and I wouldn't doubt that a company with the resources of Microsoft could best XviD/DivX5 by ~40% through incremental improvements on base MPEG-4 technologies. We'll see.

Then again, they'll probably just do a bad job coding and over-hype it, ala WMV7/8.
