This is probably old news for the DivX crowd, but for those that convert from DivX to VCD/SVCD, try installing 'ffdshow' as your codec! It has excellent post-processing features that allow you to crop/resize/sharpen/blur/noise/deblock/dering your DivX on the fly. If you use ffdshow as the codec, you can then open the .avi file directly in TMPGEnc and encode to mpeg1/2. Doing this has allowed me to cut back on processing time with great results. It seems to do a great job at 'cleaning up' divx sources, making for cleaner and smaller vcd/svcd files.
