Radiomp3 was cool when I still had a 56k modem, but now I rather use Streamripper32 to record shoutcast streams that play all the music I like instead of the charts... :D

Unfortunately they transmit poor 96 kbps MP3 (R@dio MP3 used 128 kbps).

not all of them, it mostly depends on the musical genre.

For electronic music there are a lot of 160 to 192kbit streams and even more 128kbit.

But you're right, most shoutcast streams (and usually the ones with the music you'd like to get) are something like 56kbit-96kbit.
56kbit 22kHz streams with intelligent high-pass filters are listenable, but they are not worth recording...

I find rip cast pretty good! , maybe with ogg and mp3 pro ( plz dont shoot me) shoutcast will start streaming high quality at low bit rates? AFAIK 64k/s mp3- pro sounds like 128 mp3 to me! i know it isnt correct to call it mp3 but at the end of the day lower bit rate with higher quality = :D IMO
