I woke up this morning to watch the second 1/2 of a divx (3.11) that I was watching last night and mplayer2 stalled out. So I just thought it was another quirk, restarted, and it stalled out again. I went to use PowerDivx thinking that mplayer might not like the avi, and it worked with audio but the overlay was messed up. All it showed for picture was a gray box the size of the avi.

I reinstalled divx, no help. Reinstaleld video drivers, no help. Removed divx, installed most updated drivers, reinstalled 3.11alpha, no help.

DVD2AVi can still overlay and mplayer can still overlay some mpeg-2/svcd samples. If anyone could suggest something else I should try I would greatly appreciate it.

(yes i already tried different divx's and none work)

Thanks in advance,
Mimono

I haven't used PowerDivX, but if it's anything like PowerDVD, it'll use DirectDraw to access your video hardware directly to increase performance. Make sure you have no other DirectDraw apps open (such as netmeeting), you might also want to run Dxdiag and test the direct draw function from there.
