View Full Version : SVCD w Surround
I made a backup of final fantasy, with Dolby surround compatible output. I try it with my DVD player, it has a internal decoder, but if i use dvd player surround decoder, and if i use raw signal with optical output, n the amplifier/decoder decode it, i listen ever the same, 2 channel. I would like know if the dvd was right decode in 5.1 what i must listen... a downsample like now (because i think my player not read mpeg-2mc) or i must hear noise? I try also to mux with i-author 1.0 a mc-test-6ch.mpa with a .mpv, n i hear ever the same, the voice from sorround i listen in front.
thx for ur help.

Dolby Surround does not necessarily mean 5.1 . Perhaps you did get a dolby surround audio track, but it is only the one with 2 channels (left, right and 1 pseudo rear). It sounds like you didnt get the proper sound track
U mean that if i listen the rear in front, my decoder (player and pmplifier/decoder) dont work good with Mpeg2-MC, right? do u know some brands that accept with kind of mpeg? i readed philips n some sony, is right?
thx

Philips DVD players have a built-in MPEG-2 mc audio decoder or can digital output in RAW audio mode.
Receivers with MPEG-2 mc audio decoder are rare. I know Pioneer, Philips.
As it is compatible most receivers decode the MPEG-2 multichannel audio as stereo downmix.
