Doom9,
Have you looked bsplayers forums lately? The URL is http://www.bstnet.org/bspforum/
Maybe there are some good ideas in their approach for future enhancements for your website?

[edit] I think your site is brilliant so the above is not to be seen as a criticism. Just something to look at and see what others are doing......

hmm... I had a quick look but I'm not sure where you're getting at. Maybe I'm just too tired..

Apologies for being vague - I've been up most nights watching the World Cup, therefore I find it difficult to concentrate and communicate clearly with my fellow man when the sun comes up.

The bsplayer forum website has a couple of features (especially when writing posts) that seem quite good. For example, smilies that can be clicked on (instead of typed in). Also, improved text editing features (selectable font, color, ...) as well as some other buttons for adding in identifiers (eg [quote].....). This could make life a little easier for those that submit in these forums often (e.g. moderators, etc)

Apart from that the sites are very similar in underlying functionality.

well.. now I'm even more confused.. I'm typing a post right now.. on the left side of this textarea where I type my text there's a table with smilies that you can click on :( (clicked to get this), on top of this there's buttons for bold italics and underlined text along with the possiblity to select font, font size and color. Furthermore there's buttons for urls, a button for email links, a button for quotes and lists. I use phpBB privately.. and being an admin (who use a lot of features nobody else uses) I have to say that vbb is better than phpBB.. but of course it's not free so if you're looking for a free solution phpBB is a pretty good choice.

Agreed, we can post smilies by clicking. Maybe it's because you are not logged in

As for Phpbb2, I like it a lot :)

Weird. I have attached a sample screen of what I see when typing posts. There is a link 'Smilies' at the bottom which launches another page which is the reference list for the smilies.

Is there something I need to set in my profile to get what you guys are seeing in your posting views?
