we all remember announcment that Blizzard licensed Divx to use in their games.
well i just watched some movies from Warcraft3 and they are indeed divx and kickass quality.
but going to filter properties i saw
"Divx for Blizzard Decoder Filter"
it doesn't allow to see properties page to change any settings..
FourCC on those files is "BLZ0" instead of usual "DIVX". game didn't install any drivers/filters.
so it seems like DivxNetworks sneaked in this filter with Divx5...
it doesn't sound so bad, but i really don't like that i can't open properties page...who knows if they also included some other content managment protection.

Most likely it is there so that you have to own the game with it's own decoder in order to watch them.

You can change the fourcc to divx and they still play fine, what I'd like to figure out how to do is change the post processing of the movies that play in the game. It seems its at the lowest setting and the quality isn't all that good.

i was able to watch those movies before installing the game..i guess blizzard.ax is used if you don't have divx5 installed?
will have to wait till ddfshow filter sould support BLZ0

Er, are you a beta tester or am I missing something? Warcraft III released? Or have you just download the intro from Divx.xom or elswhere?

Cheers,

Mijo.

the game was released by razor 1911 last friday on the 14th of june. so those of you who are not elite, will have to wait till it hits the retail stores in july 3rd. the rest of us are playing it with great joy. muhahahaaa
i must admit the video is awesome and too think its all done in divx, simply amazing. since I installed the game, i assume it installed some kind of driver to allow divx playback.

and you're doing your part ninja to make sure there's no warcraft4, good job... in fact, i think you should be bragging about it.

guess what? companies need money to operate.

couldn't agree more evilhomer. theres plenty of games companies out there that release mediocre crap but blizzard is not one of them.

in a way its good though. same as how movies are online for people to watch and see if its worth paying money to see it in good quality. i too have the warcraft 3 release, but am not all impressed. the video actually has blocks, LOTS of blocks, during playback. yes, it looks good in the slow scenes, but when fast action happens suddenly, its a blockfest. also, storywise the game is very well done. gamewise, however, is quite slow paced IMO. if you played battle realms then this is pretty close, other than the fact that you are now VERY limited in the amount of units you can build and have at hand at one time (90 unit count limit, some units take 2 or more unit points). graphically its very nice though.

there are only two reasons to get this game IMO. (1) you like the storyline very much and would like a good copy, then get the collectors edition which is on a dvd with dvd video instead of divx. (2) you like warcraft 3 no matter what and would like to play against other people online on bnet.

this looks to be one of those super hyped up games. same as how episode 1 of star wars was so hyped up. true, its good, but not outrageously good. [7.5/10] :)

oh no, here we go again. the old piracy argument again. where's bugs bunny when u need him.
of course it great to get things for nothing. the problem with games is u get something no different from the original, so as if u go and buy the original afterwards. right. ( unless u get rips of games, but theyre dying out afaik ). just call urself a thief, a petty one at that. i do and thats what we are. calling urself "1337" or whateva the kiddies call themselves these days is infantile - u stole something. how pathetic would u think a car theif is if he said to you "yeah man, im 'elite'. i stole a car" ... and all the geek 'elite' / theives do is download something. now don't get me wrong: without being too open about it i'm certainly not anti-piracy, i just believe in giving something back when it serves me well.
