Whats the Difference between CCE 2.5 SP and 2.64 SP trial

First, thanks to whoever made DVD2SVCD, its makes ripping so easy.
My question is why is CCE 2.5 recommended over 2.6x, the DVD2SVCD guide says its faster. I have a gigahtz P3 if that matters.
