I'm a divx guy, but occasionally I make an SVCD. I went to make my first one in many months yesterday, and decided to update my DVD2SVCD. Holy crap it's gotten good! It's brilliant in its powerfulness and its simplicity. If you're a noob, you can do everything in 2 clicks, if you're experieced, you can decide on most options manually. I recall seeing somewhere (Gordian Knot readme? Doom9 GK announcement?) TheWEF saying he was collaborating with DVD2SVCD to implement an entirely new process beyond GK. So I notice now in DVD2SVCD you can either open an AVI or a DVD (or a PVA). So I'm thinking what if you could then either output a SVCD or a DIVX (or an XVID). I'm really intrigued by this possiblity, as my friends are too imcompentant or lazy to make their own divx's. With the simplicity of DVD2SVCD, everyone could make their own backups. Any chance TheWEF cares to speak more about this secret project? I know its bad form to ask about new releases and it'll be done when it's done, but I'm really interested to hear more about this new tool.
