problem with captured ati mpeg-2 videos

Hello all,
I am capturing video with the ati aiw radeon (720x480 mpeg-2, 16bit stereo 128kb, 44.1mhz audio), when I create a disc using dvdit pe 2.5 it works fine but makes the disc much larger than the original video file, but works perfectly. So I tried to encode it into dolby digital audio instead. this solved my size problem so I can now get 2 hours onto dvd-r but the audio plays faster than the video, kinda sounds like the chipmunks. What am I doing wrong or is this the way dvdit handles ati captured videos? Somebody please help me???

By my Radeon VIVO audio capture is exclusively in MP2 format, when work with ATI Video In.

I don't see exactly in what format is your audio capture, but it looks that dvdit makes uncompressed PCM from your MP2 audio. I have same problem with Virtual Dub...

But I dodn't work with dvdit, so can't say more. Look settings...

Ahm, DVD Audio tracks can be either:
a) AC3 Audio at 48 kHz
b) MPEG Audio Layer 2 at 48 kHz
c) PCM Audio at 48 kHz

Try capturing 48 kHz Audio and this should solve your problems.

I wish I could just capture with 48 but my ati all in wonder mmc 7.6 can only capture in 44.1. Do you know of a capturing software that I can use that will capture 720x480 mpeg-2 video and 48khz audio? I would love to find one as this would definitely solve my problems

Well, I don´t have an ATI but a MSI GeForce3 Ti200 for capturing but Uleads Videostudio or DVD Moviefactory should provide both things you need:
1) Realtime MPEG2 capture
2) 48 kHz audio

Give it a try.

ATI has released MMC version 7.7. Get all the latest catalyst drivers (wdm drivers, graphic drivers and mmc 7.7 upgrade) from ATI's home page. The new MMC 7.7 can capture mpeg2 with 48 kHz audio.

I haven't tried the new MMC 7.7 yet. But I always have had problems with audio sync when making SVCD with ATI mpeg2. Have to check if there are any improvements in this version. Otherwise I capture huffyuv avi with avi_io and convert it with TMPGEnc or CCE. Then I don't have any audio sync problems.

Just d/l mmc7.7 and it works perfectly. I can record using 48khz and dvdit pe converts to dolby digital with no sync and a small fike size. about 2 1/2 hours on dvd-r...

Thanx Ronnylov and others for all your help. I was just about to give up on ATI but now will consider the radeon 8500 128mb aiw...:)
