I have been going crazy trying to figure out how to backup SHREK. This whole multi angle thing confusing. If anyone has successfully backed up SHREK to 1 DVD-R, can you post the step by steps here?

Thanks.

Not to DVD-R, but to CD. I use SmartRipper in Movie mode, which will automatically select Angle 1 of the longest program chain.

I'm having one hell of a time with this one. Here is my procedure

1. Rip DVD in File Mode selecting all files. Change setting to remove angles keeping angle 1.

2. Use IFOEDIT to remove streams.

3. I still can't get it so that it would fit onto 1 DVD-R. I usually creat the image using the image tool from IFOEDIT and keeps telling me that it won't fit.

Any ideas?

Hi Marcovan,

I am still very new to DVD ripping, and, as my first trial DVD, I chose SHREK. It took me a couple of weeks with trial and error, but I did get it down to a single DVD-5. However, it was the movie only, with no menu or extras.

I used Smartripper to transfer to HDD, then IfoEdit to strip the subtitles etc.

I won't say it was easy, but it is possible.

Hope that helps.

I've backed-up Shrek with no problems.

All you do is this:

1. DVD Decriptor back up all files from the DVD to your harddrive
2. Remove the unwanted language streams, I've kept English with IfoEdit, also you have to remove angles keeping only the angle 1
3. I also kept all subtitles.
4. I kept the menu .vob
5. Removed everything else
6. The problem you will have is in the structure of the DVD, but only if you decide that you want to keep the Musical whci hcomes after the main movie.
I basically remapped the menu - Extra Features not to go to other menus but to basically play that Music Clip. If you have questions just ask.

OK, I used Gordian Knot since it pretty much has all the programs combined in it.

Pretty much I just followed the instructions on the Doom9 guides to Gordian knot page. It works great. It teaches you to make the rip into DivX5.

Just go to

www.doom9.org --> the guides --> divX 5 Guide

it should all be there for you :)

Have fun,

I don't get it. I tried 2 ways to remove angles but both failed :

1 : I used IFOedit to Remove all Angles except Angle 1. After it processes for 20 minutes, the new resulting files are still exactly the size as the original

2 : I used DVDDecrypter (file mode) to remove all angles except Angle 1, the resulting files are also exactly the same size as the original.

What am I doing wrong?
