i just tested the "old" 2.5 version and it works nice and smooth- well what could be the problem with the 2.64 ?

I had problems with 2.64 trial version on my Athlon XP 1.6.
As soon as the encode window comes up, the program freezes. No frames are processed and I have to CTRL-ALT-DEL to shut the program down.
2.5 worked absolutely fine.
However, I bought CCE 2.64 and the production version works fine, although it bombs out on files with long filenames (!) - another fault 2.5 never had.
Still an absolutely brilliant encoder and even at $2,000 amazing value for money for the DVD professional.

yeah but how can i do this without buying this liddle baby- normally it should work the cheap way- or is there really a but in the demo version ?
Have you tried with the demo version of CCE 2.64 ?
I have 2PCs a XP1800+ and a PIV2200, both under Win2k.
Neither the demo version, nor the "patched" one work on my machines (crash at encoding startup) :(
But hopefully 2.50 and 2.62 work fine :)

ok, this thread is sailing extremely close to the wind, with regard to infringing upon forum rules, but I will just point out that there are several alternative "solutions" to "increase the functionality" of trial versions of 2.64. Some of these are more successful than others.

Arky, its 2.66 that is in beta.
Also, i emailed cinemacract. Politely asking for a trial/demo of this 2.66 got me a polite refusal and polite words saying wait july - august when we release 2.66
I guess THIS TIME AROUND we have to wait.
regards,
rob
