When capturing files from TV, using Virtual Dub, I get Interlaced photoaged. Do I need to deinterlace it before I send it back to a DVD or can I keep it interlaced?

Thank you,

Jwsmith

If u're capturing video in order to put it on DVD it's always best to keep it interlaced;

If u reduce the image size , u'd better deinterlace it but it's better using a Vdub plugs different from the basic one wich is not that good.

Anyway u have to do this AFTER capturing.

Where can I get some plugs. But If I'm just going staight back to DVD, i don't need to worry about deinterlacing? But if I wanna keep it on the hard drive I need to deinterlace, correct? How do I deinterlace and what is a good prog?

Thanx,

Jwsmith

I quit don'tunderstand ur reply but i'll try being clear

Finding plugs for Vdub is as hard as typing "virtualdub plugins" in any search engine. I con't give any url cuz' it's saturday and i'm far fromm my office...

Deinterlacing with Vdub : u must choose "filter" then "add" and pick the correct plug and set it ("configure")

Deinterlacing video content is a way to avoid artefact on image in resizing case , for example 720*576 to 320*240 needs it or u'll have a bad quality.

it is also needed in any dvd to divx converstion .

Interlaced videos is only for playback on tv via video throughout (as on geforce 3 or any video device)because "cpu" dvd players deinterlace anyway. it is also for full screen (720*576PAL for expl)

here u are

A+

progressive (or deinterlaced) footage compresses better into mpeg-2, try it if you dont believe me, 4.5mbit for the interlaced to keep under 10Q, 2.7mbit for the deinterlaced to keep under 10Q

pc dvd players DO deinterlace anyway, and 'tv-out' uses some tricks so your picture isnt shimmering cause of the fields of the tv, which means its useless to playback an interlaced file thru tv-out.

also, theoretically if you deinterlace the footage, you'll probably avoid getting the field order wrong when you encode ;), esp with CCE.
