TMPGEnc vs. CCE ??

Just wondering if anyone has compared the quality of the two encoders. I currently am using TMPGEnc and just wanted to know if I should move to CCE. Thanks for all your input.

come on nine00, put in just a little legwork - this forum is full of discussions regarding the relative benefits of each. In short, there are many issues which will affect your choice between the two, and these will largely relate to what hardware you are using, what source material you are using what framesizes you wish to create (i.e. for VCD, SVCD, DVD etc.). ~THE "SEARCH" BUTTON IS YOUR FRIEND~

Personally, I believe there is often a disproportionate emphasis on just looking at two parameters - namely "Quality" and "Speed". Of course they are extemely important, but there are other considerations, including those listed above.

If you read around, you'll learn about the strengths and weaknesses for these, with each encoder.


nevertheless, I will tell you that FOR ABSOLUTE QUALITY, CCESP still wins for creating full-frame DVD MPEG2. HOWEVER, TMPGEnc is now, in it's latest incarnation, EXTREEEEMELY close to CCESP in this respect.

for absolute speed, CCESP is faster than TMPGEnc, but TMPGEnc is improving all the time:

Oh yeah, and TMPGEnc costs $1950 LESS than CCESP!!!
