I encoded Moulin Rouge using the DivX guides and used the switch -L -3db -c normal in azid and --alt-preset 128 in Lame, but due to the amount of singing and shit in the movie, it sounds super crappy...so I think I am going to redo my audio by converting the AC3-->Wav and then using razorlame to encode the MP3 using the switch --alt-preset standard which I use for all my other encodes.

My question is this...What settings should I use in HeadAC3he to allow the best quality using the aps switch in lame?

to start with, YOU SHOULDN'T COMPRESS SONGS :D.
remove "-c normal" from your commandline ;).

secondly, you shouldn't create a wav file and then encode with lame.exe, you could simply select aps instead of ap128.

I don't compress songs with the -c normal switch with music CD's if thats what your implying:)...I use EAC to get the wav files then then Razorlame to compress using aps...I think I know where the confusion comes in...Moulin Rouge has alot of singing and music in it that sounds crappy with the normal azid:-L -3db -c normal lame:--alt-preset 128 switches. Thats why I want to use aps rather than ap128:)

So what your saying is, in GKnot, use azid:-L -3db -c normal and lame:--alt-preset standard and just bypass HeadAC3he all together?

Your patients is appreciated!
